Artistic Mapping 2026: Cartographies for a Practice in Motion

In a context where many contemporary artistic practices remain dispersed across territories, digital platforms, and independent circuits, the need emerges to create spaces capable of documenting, connecting, and supporting research processes that often exist outside traditional exhibition structures.

From this concern comes Artistic Mapping 2026, an open call launched by Área Temporal as part of INDEX, the gallery’s editorial and curatorial archive. Conceived as a tool for observation and articulation, INDEX seeks to bring together artistic practices whose strength lies not only in the final work, but also in the processes, methodologies, and investigations that sustain them.

More than a conventional open call, the project functions as an evolving cartography: a space where artists from different contexts can engage with the gallery’s research lines and become part of an ecosystem oriented toward the circulation, visibility, and international projection of their practices.

The initiative responds to the importance of generating more flexible cultural infrastructures, capable of identifying relevant proposals before they are absorbed by exclusively commercial or institutional dynamics. Más que una convocatoria abierta convencional, el proyecto funciona como una cartografía en permanente construcción: un espacio donde artistas de distintos contextos pueden entrar en diálogo con las líneas de investigación de la galería y formar parte de un ecosistema orientado a la circulación, visibilidad y proyección internacional de sus prácticas.
