María Briones Ballester’s painting emerges from a territory where the contemporary image can no longer be understood as stable. Her work investigates the tensions between memory, archive, identity, and digital culture, constructing a pictorial language traversed by error, fragmentation, and disappearance. In her hands, painting ceases to function as fixed representation and instead becomes a space of constant transformation, where images appear and dissolve simultaneously.

Each of her paintings unfolds as an autonomous narrative nucleus. Some address the latent violence embedded within digital archives; others engage collective memory inscribed in landscapes, the emotional mechanisms of remembrance, or the mass circulation of images across the internet.
