STATEMENT · BIO

Elizabeth Vásquez Arbulú develops an artistic practice grounded in found objects and archives, which she replicates, documents, and deconstructs to construct installations where architecture, geography, and archaeology converge. Her work examines these fields as modes of approaching territory and the symbols that participate in the construction of sociocultural imaginaries.

Through the displacement and transformation of materials, the artist explores the relationships between memory, territory, and representation, assigning new meanings to objects that function as traces of specific contexts. Her practice is also characterized by the juxtaposition of local artisanal techniques and digital media, generating a productive tension between traditional forms of making and contemporary processes of reproduction and documentation.

At this intersection, Vásquez Arbulú constructs installations that operate as spaces of research and reinterpretation, where the everyday, the documentary, and the material converge to question the ways in which territories are constructed, inhabited, and remembered.
